Coastal believes in taking care of and investing our team. We provide competitive pay, starting at $18.41 per hour for a Dispatcher, with 1% additional per year, for every year of experience as an Emergency Dispatch Intake.

Shifts may be daytime, evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. We offer shift differential and overtime. Days worked are typically based on a rotating schedule, which may include alternating weekends, and may include built-in overtime. Coastal is a 24 / 7 / 365 operation.

In addition to base pay time and half for all hours over 40 per week, all Operations employees receive shift differentials as follows : Weekday overnights – Additional $4.00 per hour, Weekend days – Additional $4.50 per hour, weekend overnights – Additional $5.00 per hour

Coastal Ambulance provides specialized ambulance transport in Florida and beyond. Our daily call volume includes, inter-facility SCT, ALS and BLS transports, stemming from pre-hospital healthcare and hospital to hospital facilities. We provide some pre-scheduled or same day appointments as well as critical care transports. Our Field Operations team consist of highly skilled medical professionals, working with every hospital and healthcare facility in Brevard County, and with hospitals and specialty facilities throughout the state. We are proud to have established a long-standing tradition of high quality service and care, and you will find many long-time employees on our team, with decades of experience and vast knowledge to share with you. Our team of First Responders, EMTs and Paramedics regularly work with patients that are clinically engaging offering our team the opportunity to utilize specialized skills beyond the level of most EMS providers. Our Communications Team plays an integral part in this!

  • SUMMARY :

    As the first contact that customers have with our company, the Dispatcher position is tasked with providing excellent customer service, exceptional problem solving skills and ensuring that each customer interaction is a positive experience. Uses radio, telephone and computer systems to properly dispatch vehicles to requesting agencies and the public. Handles and maintains internal and external communications between Coastal and medical providers requesting transportation for Ambulance services. Responsible for accepting, coordinating and screening requests for ambulance transportation.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Can manage all aspects of the communications center independently and proficiently.
  • Works closely with customers to ensure that the destination facility can accommodate the patient.
  • Maintain constant communication with customers, internal and external, to relay any information regarding a delayed response for a transport request.
  • Ensure that problems, concerns or issues with clients are promptly relayed to supervisor for immediate follow up.
  • Monitor and track movement of all units.
  • Radio Dispatch transport information to field personnel in a professional and accurate manner.
  • Move field resources in a manner constant with department guidelines and contract parameters.
  • Monitor field personnel performance to include but not limited to in-service times, on scene time and clear times.
  • Report crew or transport anomalies to the appropriate Supervisor and / or Director.
  • Determine based on priority of the request the proper time parameters for dispatching the unit.
  • Assist other personnel as deemed necessary to aid in the smooth operation of the Communications Department.
  • Attend training, meetings and seminars as directed.
  • Receive customer complaints and forward to the appropriate department.
  • Special projects as assigned by supervisor or Department Director.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
  • Observes and complies strictly with all HIPAA policies and regulations.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must speak / write / understand English language fluently
  • EMS experience preferred.
  • Previous call center or other customer service focused position required.
  • Good knowledge of workings of a communications operation, Computer and data entry skills.
  • Exceptional demeanor in handling confrontational situations.
  • Good knowledge of Brevard County as well as strong map reading skills.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIORNMENT :

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or one to three months related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must speak / write / understand English language fluently
  • EMS experience preferred.
  • Previous call center or other customer service focused position required.
  • Good knowledge of workings of a communications operation, Computer and data entry skills.
  • Exceptional demeanor in handling confrontational situations.
