2nd Shift: 3:00pm – 11:15pm (Mon-Fri)
Position Overview:
The Packaging Operator is responsible for transferring product from bulk packaging containers into final product shipping containers. Typical processing duties include transporting material into the suite area, applying labels, reading a scale, and transcribing information onto lists and labels. Additional responsibilities may include, sanitation (cleaning), raw material screening, and other duties as assigned.
The Packaging Operator follows cGMP (Good Mfg. Practice) and follows food safety objectives through SQF (Safe Quality Food).
Essential Job Functions:
- Transfers product from bulk to small containers.
- Applies container labels and validates label/lot information.
- Records product information on in-process labels such as material name, lot number, weight, etc.
- Stages materials and/or equipment for processing.
- Maintains accurate records.
- Verifies tasks performed by other personnel such as weight checks, calculations, critical process steps, etc.
- May be required to operate a forklift on an occasional basis depending on material handling requirements. (Forklift training/certification to be administered by CPI.)
- Follows all CPI practices, policies, and procedures.
- Follows all CPI safety practices, policies, and procedures.
- Follows all CPI cGMP and SQF practices, policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Skills/Knowledge Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A basic understanding of the purpose and contents within the Material Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) preferred.
- Knowledge of various types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) available and how/when to use it.
- Basic mathematical skills and the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and conversions.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to read, write (legibly), and speak the English language at a level necessary for efficient performance.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, co-workers, and/or clients.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 55 lbs. and move objects weighing up to 265 lbs.
- Ability to operate a pallet jack.
- Ability to stand for lengthy periods of time.
- Ability to use a half mask positive pressure respirator by providing a proper seal.
