What are the responsibilities and job description for the Information Systems Technician position at Cocopah Indian Tribe?
Summary
This position is located in the IS Department under the direction of the Network Specialist Supervisor. The incumbent directly monitors all day to day computer and data systems for the Casino. The IS Technician is accountable for cooperating with other departments, implementing policies and procedures and assuring compliance with the Minimum Internal Control Standards as they affect all data related to computers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Makes recommendation to Director for upgrades, purchase of new computer equipment, oversees installation and training of same.
- Maintain professional knowledge by attending relevant workshops and seminars. as directed by the Information System Director.
- This position may require working weekends, holidays, graveyard shifts and must carry cell phone.
- Controls and enters all input to computers as directed my information systems management.
- Controls and distributes output from computers for all departments of the Casino.
- Performs back-up and recovery procedures when necessary.
- Ensures all steps are followed for installation of new equipment.
- Locates and repairs equipment malfunctions as required.
- Must understand and comply with the System of Minimum Internal Control Standards.
- Assures compliance with policies and procedures in a consistent manner.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Effective communication skills.
- Broad understanding of computer/electronic technical areas.
- Must have working knowledge including building, troubleshooting, repair, programming systems, and lan networking.
- Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently.
- Must be able to work in a smoking environment.
- Ability to adhere to confidentiality requirements
- Ability to follow all CDC guidelines in regards to COVID-19.
Qualifications
- All applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
- Must be able to obtain a thorough understanding of the State/Tribal Compact and all policies and procedures.
- Effective communication skills.
- Must be certifiable through the Arizona Department of Gaming and the Cocopah Tribal Gaming Office.
- Must be COVID-19 vaccinated or must obtain upon hire.
Education and/or Experience
- Associates degree in related field is preferred, completion of trade school, professional or technical certification, specialized training
- 1-year equivalent to at least TS-4, 6-months specialized work experience, 3-years work experience in related field or 2-years supervisory work experience
