Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator with over 7 years of experience in SQL Server (version 2016 and above) to provide Infrastructure DBA support for critical SQL Server applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the integrity, performance, and security of our database environments. This is a long term contract position, hybrid on site in Lansing MI.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 24x7 software and hardware support for complex SQL Server applications.
Implement and manage high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
Maintain and enforce database standards, policies, and procedures.
Develop and maintain systems documentation, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Monitor and manage database space allocation, integrity, and performance.
Calculate disk space requirements and modify DBMS parameters as necessary.
Install, patch, and upgrade database management software in development and test environments.
Troubleshoot database issues and ensure recoverability of backups.
Collaborate with Systems Analysts and Database Architects to execute scripts for database object modifications.
Evaluate impacts of changes and new technologies; recommend solutions to persistent problems.
Serve as a liaison to external consultants for project support.
Top Skills Required:
7 years of database administration experience, specifically with SQL Server 2016 and upwards.
Expertise in high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions.
Proficient in Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) within SQL Server.
3 years of experience in creating, updating, and maintaining systems documentation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Location Requirements:
Candidates must be local to the greater Lansing area (commutable distance) Not open to candidates willing to relocate at this time.
This is a hybrid work schedule, requiring onsite presence 2 days a week, starting from day one.
No remote-only options are available.
