We are working on a hybrid schedule, 3 days in the office, 2 at home. The Team: We are the UX Design team at Cognex. We are a new team (a lead UX designer and 2 other designers) designing web interfaces for Cognex’s enterprise B2B products. Our UIs are atomically consumed by other Cognex products to maintain unified look & feel and workflows across several product lines. We work closely with deep learning researchers and computer vision engineers to understand the underlying technology. That understanding helps us produce rich user experiences for complex computer vision tools. We are setting a new standard for interface design and user experience at Cognex. The Role: Working with the UX design team and multiple teams of front-end developers, you will design workflows and interfaces for Cognex’s vision software and ID-reading products. You will: Lead multiple projects through all aspects of the design cycle (brainstorming, sketching, prototyping, testing, iterating, etc.). Contribute to, document, maintain, and architect Cognex’s design system. We’re based on the Angular Material library. Participate in design reviews with your design team and other stakeholders, iteratively honing the design and implementation of the whole team’s UIs. Write and maintain to internal documentation for your designs and evangelize their use across the company. Work with other teams at Cognex as they integrate your user interfaces into their customer-facing products. This role provides an opportunity to collaborate with our cross-functional, multi-national engineering teams, and get exposure to complex and challenging problems involving hardware, software, and systems integration across our top tier customer portfolio. There is a lot of exciting upcoming design work at Cognex, and you get to shape that future. Responsibilities: Work with and your design team to design Cognex’s web-based product UIs. Contribute to, document, maintain, and architect Cognex design system. Design new reusable components using an atomic design philosophy Maintain, document, and improve existing design components in our burgeoning design system Interact with other teams and help them structure their applications to consume your designs for a cohesive experience Collaborate with the front-end and back-end engineers to guide their implementation of new features to facilitate your designs Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 3-7 years of product design / UX experience, designing products that were built and shipped to real users. Experience with Figma, or similar design software Experience deploying, maintaining, and improving a design system across a large organization. Experience designing for cross-browser and cross-device compatibility (e.g. desktop Chrome, mobile Safari, etc.) Ability to work as a member of a team in a loosely structured and continuously improving scrum process. Team player with ability to work effectively and share knowledge across the team Willingness to propose and fight for bold designs Humility to take feedback and iterate on a design Strong presentation, communication and interpersonal skills Experience with Deep Learning will be considered a plus. Minimum education and work experience required: Proficiency and willingness to communicate in English A portfolio demonstrating the ability to utilize and adapt an existing design system.
