POSITION TITLE: Health Education TeacherGENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Health Education Teacher is directly responsible to the principal of the school to which she/he is assigned, and is accountable for the performance responsibilities listed below.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year are in accordance with the current Master Contract and salary schedule. CLASSIFICATION: Fair Labor Standards Act ExemptREPORTS TO: Building PrincipalEVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions in the current Master Agreement between the Colchester Education Association and the School Board. Evaluation will be completed according to the guidelines defined in the district's Differentiated Evaluation Process.QUALIFICATIONS: 1.Current VT State education license with endorsement in health/physical education.2.Demonstrated ability and/or successful prior teaching experience.3.Understanding of content and current best practices in teaching comprehensive health education.4.Skills in collaborative problem solving, critical thinking, and teamwork.5.Commitment to the school districts mission and Strategic Plan.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.Instruct and guide students according to their developmental needs and in accordance with the district's health education curriculum. 2.Create a classroom environment and climate which is open, flexible, and conducive to learning.
3.Implement district policies and follow school practices and procedures. 4.Maintain appropriate student records and health education program documentation. 5.Model effective health education practices and wellness strategies for staff, students, and community members. 6.Develop interdisciplinary units and initiate opportunities for integrating health education in other areas of the curriculum.
7.Communicate effectively with parents, students, peers, and human resource agencies. 8.Assume supervisory responsibilities as assigned. 9.Collaborate with other school and district staff members to ensure student achievement of defined learner outcomes.10.Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the building or district administrators.
