Job Summary:
The Chemist I will support manufacturing operations within an infectious disease diagnostics environment by producing and testing bioreagents used in immunology based chromatography and enzyme assays. This entry level role focuses on wet bench laboratory work, in process quality control testing, and adherence to regulated manufacturing standards. The position supports daily production schedules while maintaining quality and safety requirements in a fast paced laboratory setting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Maintain and support assigned production schedules to meet manufacturing targets
• Perform in process quality control testing including titrations and inspections
• Prepare critical and non critical bioreagents using approved standard operating procedures
• Investigate production issues and recommend process improvements
• Create and follow protocols to support product and process enhancements
• Maintain compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Good Laboratory Practices
• Operate laboratory equipment including pH meters, balances, and pipettes
• Work collaboratively with manufacturing teams to maintain reagent supply and workflow
• Follow all safety procedures and quality system requirements
Required Qualifications:
• Associate degree with one to two years of laboratory experience or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related field
• Hands on experience with micropipetting, aseptic technique, and laminar flow hoods
• Proficiency using laboratory measurement tools including pH meters, balances, serological pipettes, and graduated cylinders
• Basic understanding of analytical chemistry theories and wet bench techniques
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team with moderate supervision
• Comfortable working in cold room environments for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in regulated manufacturing or diagnostics laboratory environments
• Familiarity with chromatography or enzyme based assay production
• Working knowledge of laboratory documentation and protocol development
