What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Secretary position at College Place Public Schools?
On an on-call/substitute basis, this position will assist with the daily operations/clerical duties associated with the school office.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or its equivalent (GED);
- Knowledge of technology;
- Knowledge of school procedures;
- Skill to multi-task;
- Public Relations skills.
- Work efficiently, effectively and timely;
- Produce work that is accurate, neat and thorough;
- Be reliable, trustworthy and require minimal supervision;
- Interact and communicate with others in a respectful, courteous and cooperative manner;
- Maintain adaptability by being positive, versatile and flexible;
- Support school rules and District policies and procedures.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS: Bilingual/biliterate in Spanish is considered helpful. District tests to verify skill levels.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain student records by recording student, health, attendance, grades, schedules and all other district and state information required for each student enrolled in the school building.
- Maintain processes by having a working knowledge of the school secretary’s responsibilities and apply that knowledge and skill in the absence thereof.
- Serve individuals by answering questions, scheduling appointments, and facilitating needs of students, staff, community, and administrators as needed.
- Perform health room tasks as needed, such as but not limited to the dispensation of prescribed medicines and first aid services.
- Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls when processing revenue received in the school building.
- Acknowledges the importance of safety by maintaining a safe and orderly working environment and following safe work practices.
- Protect the District by keeping information confidential.
- Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational trainings.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed or requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling.
- Generally, the job requires:~ 5% lifting ~ 40 lbs.
~ 40% of the work day standing, reaching, bending, stooping, walking~ 60% of the time working from a sitting position
- This job may require interaction with students displaying aggression, non-compliance, and other conduct problems.(~) denotes approximation
