Collins is seeking a motivated individual to fill the role a Surveyor for our Milwaukee, Wisconsin, office. The Surveyor is responsible for the efficient operation of the field crew using standard operating procedures and current health and safety standards, as well as using various surveying programs and equipment to gather, review and process field data, and performing minor computations as required. The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to work on projects with Wisdot, freeway construction verification survey, Illinois state beach park contractor quantity verification, contractor staking. TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform field survey work, including: network control surveys, right of way plats, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, construction surveys, 3D modeling, and LIDAR scanning.
- Perform field investigations and surveys to support the creation and maintenance of digital base mapping and parcel mapping.
- Use various surveying programs to gather, review and process field data.
- Responsible for survey control, quality assurance survey, and volume computations.
- Oversee and conduct construction modeling, staking, and file recordkeeping.
- Use 3D technologies to identify and resolve conflicts.
- Conduct topographic mapping, scanning, and modeling.
- Perform mathematical computations concerning survey measurements and land records.
- Maintain survey field notes, sketches and other documentation.
- Maintain, prepare and use surveying equipment.
- Supervise and direct survey field crew to complete field survey tasks.
- Actively observe and act in an appropriate manner related to safety.

- Ensure that staff needing specialized training in health and safety procedures and practices receive such training and that safety is discussed as an important aspect of their work.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Associates degree or equivalent experience as an Engineering Technician or Land Surveyor
- Minimum of 2-5 years of applicable field experience as instrument operator, Surveyor, Junior Crew Chief or Crew Chief
- Working knowledge of Survey data collection procedures
- Ability to read and understand survey notes, sketches, maps, deeds, as-built drawings, construction plans and other drawings and records
- Experience creating survey field notes, sketches and other written records
- Experience in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
- Experience with Trimble robotic and GPS equipment
- Professional Land Surveyor preferred but not required
