What You Will Do
The controller position is responsible for the accounting operations of the company. This includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls. The controller is also responsible for enhancing the accuracy of the company's reported financial results and ensuring that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
How You Will Make A Difference
Management
- Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
- Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including input on the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
- Oversee the accounting operations of additional business units, including control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
- Supervises accounting staff, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
Transactions
Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner.Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly.Process payroll.Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed.Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis.Maintain the chart of accounts.Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.Reporting
Issue timely and complete financial statements.Provide input on performance benchmarks and other business analysis tools.Assist in the production of the annual budget and weekly forecasts.Understand and report variances from the budget and report significant issues to management.Provide a system of management cost reports.Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital purchase, business partnership decisions, and contract negotiations.Compliance

Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10 years of progressively responsible experience either in a company or with an audit / accounting firm.Preference that the candidate has a Certified Public Accountant designation.Experience with RentalMan or Wynne Systems a plus.Other
