Pay Range: $17.97 - $28.75
Job Type: Full Time - Hybrid
Position Summary:
The Financial Counselor is primarily responsible for patient insurance verification, estimation of out-of-pocket costs, securing payment from patients ahead of appointments and ensuring adequate coverage for services. This position works directly with the internal medical staff as well as insurance carriers to educate patients of their financial liabilities and potential payment sources.
Job Duties:
- Provides estimates to patients prior to scheduled appointments.
- Generates insurance verification reports daily and verifies eligibility.
- Follows all guidelines set forth in the Cash Handling policy.
- Utilizes eligibility systems, on-line websites, or phone calls to determine insurance benefits.
- Assists patients with payment arrangements and with financial applications.
- Contacts the patient’s employer, if necessary, for verification of employment.
- Escalates any concerns as needed to Supervisor.
- Enters pertinent insurance information into the MDI and NG.
- Completes financial analysis and collects estimated patient liabilities.
- Displays an aptitude and willingness to learn new responsibilities.
- Shows dependability and reliability in achieving goals.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- One or more years' experience in a billing setting
- Strong customer service experience
