Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Colorado Springs, CO, for a Public Communication Specialist 1 (PIO). The Public Communication Specialist will be responsible for preparing and distributing press releases, developing and executing strategic communication campaigns, writing and reviewing content for internal and external audiences, and serving as a liaison between the police department and the media. The position also entails managing internal communications to ensure clarity and consistency and supporting public engagement initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in crafting effective messages for diverse audiences.
  • Experience in writing press releases and coordinating media relations is essential.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic communications plans that align with organizational goals.
  • Proficiency in written communication and internal communications to engage and inform both internal teams and the public.
  • Experience in public relations or communications within a government or law enforcement setting is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field is preferred.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using digital communication and social media platforms is advantageous.
