Summary
The Colorado State University Foundation (CSUF) receives, manages, and invests contributions to support the mission and strategic goals of Colorado State University. The accountant supports this mission by performing a broad range of accounting tasks, including journal entries, account reconciliation, financial reporting, and system maintenance. This role requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Functions
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements, audits, and tax filings
- Record journal entries for charitable contributions and other financial transactions
- Execute key accounting tasks across core financial functions such as accounts payable, pledges, investments, and fixed assets
- Reconcile general ledger and financial accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Generate and distribute routine and ad-hoc financial reports and analyses
- Maintain and update accounting procedures to reflect current practices
- Manage workload effectively to meet deadlines and organizational priorities
- Communicate professionally with a diverse range of individuals and groups
- Maintain consistent and reliable attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to pass a criminal background check, including National Sex Offender Registry
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Two years’ accounting or auditing experience
- Experience with accounting information systems and Microsoft Office Suite programs
- Effective oral and written communication in English
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in accounting
- Certified Public Accountant
- Experience with fund accounting, working in a non-profit or higher education setting
- Experience using Financial Edge NXT accounting software
- Advanced Microsoft Office Suite program skills
Compensation & Benefits
Starting salary range $70,000-$80,000. Commensurate with experience. Benefits include health, dental, vision and group life insurance, sick time, vacation leave, and opportunity to participate in 401(a) and 403(b) retirement plans.
