We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Assistant Golf Course Superintendent with a turf degree to join our golf course management team. As an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, you will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to ensure the pristine condition and efficient maintenance of our golf course. Your expertise in turf management and passion for golf course maintenance will be invaluable in delivering exceptional playing conditions and unforgettable experiences for our members and guests.Key Responsibilities:Turf Management: Collaborate with the Superintendent and Director of Golf Maintenance in implementing comprehensive turf management programs, including mowing schedules, fertilization, irrigation, aeration, and pest control. Monitor turf health and adjust practices as needed to achieve optimal playing conditions.Crew Supervision: Assist in supervising and training a team of groundskeepers and technicians. Delegate tasks effectively, ensuring the team follows standard operating procedures and maintains high-quality standards.Irrigation System Management: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repairs of the golf course irrigation system. Schedule and adjust irrigation cycles to conserve water and promote turf health.Environmental Stewardship: Promote and implement environmentally friendly practices, such as integrated pest management and water conservation initiatives, to ensure sustainable course management.Course Improvement Projects: Support the planning and execution of course improvement projects, such as tee box renovations and native area expansions. Work with the team to complete projects on time and within budget.Tournament Preparation: Assist in preparing the course for tournaments and events. Collaborate with the Golf Course Superintendent and Director of Golf Maintenance to set up tees, hole locations, and other course amenities to meet tournament requirements.Budget and Inventory Management: Contribute to budget planning and assist in managing expenses related to turf maintenance, equipment, and supplies. Maintain accurate inventory records to ensure efficient resource allocation.Safety and Compliance: Promote a culture of safety among the team and enforce compliance with all safety protocols and regulations. Conduct regular safety training and inspections.Communication: Maintain effective communication with the Golf Course Superintendent, Director of Golf Maintenance, other department heads, and staff members. Provide updates on course conditions, maintenance activities, and any potential issues.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Turf Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.Previous experience in golf course maintenance and turf management in the transition zone is preferred.Knowledge of turfgrass species, diseases, and pest management strategies.Familiarity with irrigation systems and equipment used in golf course maintenance.Strong leadership and supervisory skills to manage and motivate a team effectively.Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.Ability to work in varying weather conditions and adapt to changing priorities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with team members and golf course members.
