Summary:
A Commercial Lender (C&I) at Columbia Bank is responsible for bringing in new business relationships and a nalyzing commercial loans of varying complexity and dollar size. This position works directly with teams of lenders and commercial credit analysts to address loan renewals, modifications and occasionally approve new loans; recommends loans for approval within established guidelines and lending policies; maintains portfolio of existing customer relationships and supports a team of commercial lending officers; and, assists higher level loan officers with larger loans and general loan portfolio management tasks.
Job Responsibilities:
Interviews loan applicants. Analyzes financial and related data for credit worthiness and merits of loan requests. Establishes terms and recommends approval to senior management. Informs customers of Bank decisions. Maintain a complete and thorough understanding of Loan Policy, including all loan guidelines and exceptions. Review, understand and communicate issues within loan files to the Loan Officers for accuracy and correction of errors.
Responsible for coordinating the underwriting of credits, including risk rating assessment, covenant compliance testing, financial statement and collateral analysis. Cross sells Bank products and services.
Interacts with customers to maintain and enhance business relationships. Ensures that annual file reviews are completed in a timely manner. Deals directly with existing customers regarding line of credit renewals as well as modifications of existing loans. Provide close contact with clients to establish, deepen, and retain relationships; reach corporate objectives.
Monitors delinquencies and evaluates problem loans. Negotiates with customers and offers restructure recommendations for problem loans or recommends legal collection action. Estimates final financial impact to the Bank.
Maintains a current knowledge of local and national economic, financial, political and legislative trends. Determines the possible impact on commercial lending activities.
Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports and the forecasting of loan balances.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required. Master's degree desirable.
Minimum of 7 years of Commercial Loan experience. Please note that we segment our lending and are looking for lenders to focus on Commercial & Industrial Loans (C&I).
Certified by a formal credit program or have participated in a bank sponsored credit program
Experience And Use Of Financial Analysis Software Preferred.
Excellent customer service skills.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, including the skills necessary to deal tactfully and professionally with customers, employees, senior management, auditors and regulators.
Knowledge of and the ability to use current technology proficiently.
Good organizational skills, a high level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
