About the Columbia Fireflies: The Columbia Fireflies are a part of Hardball Capital which also owns the Chattanooga Lookouts and the Fort Wayne TinCaps . The Fireflies began play in the spring of 2016 at Segra Park (formally Spirit Communications Park), in Columbia, South Carolina. The Fireflies are the Class-A, Kansas City Royals affiliate of the Low A East whose season begins in April and concludes in September.

Summary of Program:
The Fireflies internship position(s) will be open to college’s students (internship requirements and hours may vary based on academic need) . Interns will be required to work all home games and non-game hours to meet their hour requirements for the program. This includes nights, weekends, and holidays. Hardball capital believes in hiring from within when the opportunity presents itself.
Duties and responsibilities include the following
- Assist the food and beverage operations for all baseball games and special events
- Communicate effectively with guests, all levels of management and co-workers
- Assist with stocking and preparing concession stands and food carts and all food areas for all games or events
- Help maintain cleanliness of all food areas to meet health code regulations
- Help control inventory, food costs and labor costs
- Ability to work in a fast pace environment
- Ability to walk, reach, stand bend and stoop for long periods of time; climb stairs as needed
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Assist with office operations if needed
- Assist in setting up the ballpark before each home stand.
- Be the first point of contact for gameday staff to fix issues or answer questions
- Communicate effectively on the behalf of others to achieve a goal
- Customer service skills
- Other duties as assigned
