Position Description
The Grading Inspector is primarily responsible for inspecting and officially certifying grain product quality in accordance with USDA Standards of Grain for producers, shippers, processors, buyers, and marketers. The Grading Inspector will work with the other members of the team to work toward operational goals while maintaining quality and efficiencies.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Accurately completes quality grade in accordance with USDA Standards.
Accurately enters all product identity information for all product produced in an inventory database.
Performs requested tests and samples to include weighing and grading of domestic and export grain.
Process using appropriate procedures to maintain the integrity of the sample prior to shipping or inspection.
Provides prompt and timely feedback to appropriate personnel relative to production related problems.
Maintains proper procedures to preserve the integrity of equipment, sample and work records.
Participates in grain grading activities or trainings as necessary.
Maintains a professional and safe work environment.
Seasonally as needed - Ability to work entire shift, extended shift hours, weekends, and holidays.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience
Highschool diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
Previous experience in agricultural commodities or farming, specifically in grain production preferred.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Basic knowledge of working with a computer and mechanical skills.
Good work ethic (team environment, both safe and quality), efficient and willingness to perform all required work with good attendance.
Physical Requirements necessary to perform this job
Must be able to move freely throughout the operations plant to include walking on elevated platforms, standing and sitting.
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs., frequently lift and move up to 25 lbs.
Exposure to extreme climate temperatures, humidity and noise (indoor and outdoor)
Required to wear protective equipment to include hard hat, safety glasses, protective footwear, gloves, coveralls, and other PPE as required.
