Starting Salary: $52,000/year for Master’s Degree (Bachelor’s $42,000) in appropriate subject area. An excellent benefits package is available as a faculty member of the University of Georgia.
Manages the 4-H Program in Columbus by providing educational programs for youth in monthly 4-H Club Meetings, coordinating local activities, and preparing youth for project and judging events. Provides leadership for volunteers, Para-professionals and teen leaders in delivering 4-H and youth programs. Utilizes the expertise of and works closely with advisory groups, community leaders, public officials and representatives of intended audiences to analyze data, identity needs, assist in developing educational programs. Develops and conducts relevant multidisciplinary programs with other staff members based on critical issues. Collaborates with other agencies and community groups to plan and implement programs. Demonstrates personal interest and involvement in community by participating in and supporting civic/community activities/organizations and networks with community leaders. Ensures the Civil Rights/Equal Employment Opportunity plan of UGA Cooperative Extension is followed. Frequently night’s meetings, occasionally work weekends and attends out-of-county meeting.
Professional experience in program development and management; demonstrated communication ability, to design, coordinate, and teach educational programs to meet community needs; Demonstrate the ability to work as a team member, with groups and committees.
A Bachelor’s degree in Human or Youth Development, Sociology, Education, Agriculture, Family & Consumer Sciences or related field; Master’s degree in related field and direct 4-H experience preferred. A valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle are required. A travel allowance will be provided
The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending, or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light to medium objects. The work may be performed outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
