***MUST BE ABLE TO WORK ROTATING SHIFT, WEEKENDS, AND HOLIDAYS.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide direct/indirect services to victims/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, stalking and human trafficking in a shelter environment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain 24-hour crisis hotline.
  • Provide crisis intervention face to face/telephonic.
  • Complete initial assessments of victim/survivor seeking services.
  • Current knowledge of program policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Must establish a rapport with diverse population.
  • Assist residents with basic needs: personal hygiene, food, clothing, appointments, transportation, etc.
  • Conduct house meetings to identify needs and address complaints.
  • Document services provided in case file to include resident’s progress on personal goals.
  • Assist resident with developing a safety plan. Monitor shelter security.
  • Ensure compliance with safety rules, internal and external.
  • Assist with general cleaning duties and sorting of donations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REPORTS TO: Reports to Program Director. No supervisory authority.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS REQUIRED: Must be able to lift 25 lbs. Must be able to do routine housekeeping chores.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Stressful. Confrontational. Frustrating. Diverse population. Diverse Population. Dysfunctional families.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School/GED with minimum of 2 years of experience in providing direct/indirect services to victims.
  • College credits in psychology, sociology or related field maybe substituted for up to 1.5 years of experience.
  • Ability to acquire knowledge of federal, state and tribal domestic violence/sexual assault laws and codes
  • Ability to handle crisis situations, utilize methods of conflict resolutions, good verbal/written communication skills.
  • Must be non-judgmental; Empathetic.
  • Good customer services skills.
  • Knowledge of cultural differences.
  • Valid driver’s license without restrictions and be insurable by tribal insurance.
