Assistant Laboratory Manager – Construction Materials Lab
We are seeking an Assistant Laboratory Manager to support materials testing and inspection for major infrastructure projects. This is a rare opportunity to step into a leadership role within a well-established construction materials lab, where your work will directly support roadway, bridge, and public infrastructure improvements.
This position is ideal for someone with a background in civil or structural materials testing, particularly with QA/QC oversight and team supervision experience. Remote/hybrid work options are available, and the employer offers generous benefits, including participation in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise materials lab staff and coordinate daily project assignments
Ensure compliance with QA/QC procedures and federal testing standards
Act as the Lab Manager during absences
Review and maintain technical specifications, drawings, and field practices
Oversee lab testing programs for municipalities and partner agencies
Maintain lab certifications and staff credentials (AASHTO, CCRL, MoDOT, ACI)
Assist with budgeting for materials, training, and equipment
Support lab database management and software/hardware needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Missouri PE (Professional Engineer) or RA (Registered Architect) preferred
5 years of experience in materials testing or a related field
Proven supervisory or team leadership background in a lab or engineering environment
Familiarity with AASHTO, CCRL, MoDOT, and ACI standards
Strong technical knowledge of concrete, asphalt, and aggregate testing
Valid driver’s license required
