Job Title: Plumbing Foreman

SUMMARY

To supervise and coordinate the safe, accurate, and productive installation of all types of plumbing systems including, but not limited to, sanitary waste and vent, potable and non-potable water, natural and liquid propane gasses, medical gasses, roof drains, compressed air, vacuum, and other types of process piping systems in accordance with state and local codes, and to do so within specific job requirements, including schedule and estimates.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


Perform 100% takeoff of assigned project

Supervise and coordinate activities of assigned craft workers.

Tracks employees time on job site in the CDR daily.

Interpret specifications, blueprints and job orders as needed for area of supervision.

Train new workers and apprentices.

Inspect work-in-progress and completed work to ensure conformance to contracts, documents, plans, specifications and drawings, and applicable state and local code requirements.

Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.

Review project schedule, ship dates, job cost spread sheets, manpower and crew cost with Superintendent and Project Manager

Attend turnover and subcontractor meetings.

Review submittals and expediting reports.

Update as-builts weekly on a set of as-built prints.

Keep the job site organized and clean to ensure better production, to eliminate re-orders, lost hours and lost materials.

Ensure that the crew knows exactly what the task is by having proper drawings, materials, tools, and equipment.

Coordinate with other trades.

Eliminate re-work.


Maintain daily reports to include:

1. Manpower hours on job and tasks performed

2. Delivers record activity

3. Tool log record and inspect daily

4. Safety talks attendance and topic

5. Visitors and purpose of visit

6. Project meetings (topics discussed and action required)

7. Pertinent talks with general contractor and other trades

8. Rental log (in and out dates recorded, with time)

9. Subcontractor activities, manpower and work performed

10. Additional comments, RFI, employee problems, phone

conversations, schedule changes.


Set daily and weekly goals for manpower and production:

1. Review daily goals or production with crew and review progress; make changes as required.

2. Pre-plan tasks to eliminate the need for “emergency” orders

3. Check materials to assure that there is enough for manpower and production projected for the week.

4. Review the number of people and make sure the correct people are on the correct tasks to be completed.


Coordinate equipment and material delivery with purchasing and project manager:

1. Allow three days delivery time on non-specialty items

2. Ensure all take-offs are complete to eliminate excess purchase orders

3. Ensure that the project manager knows what items are on the purchase order and get the project manager’s approval for all materials ordered.



SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages 1-3 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 1-10 employees in the Job site specific that required 1-3 leadmen. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Also directly supervises 1-20 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Jack hammering concrete, consistently working around large earth moving equipment; grader, dump trucks, backhoes, etc.
