Responsibilities
About This Position
In keeping with the Marian Medical Center healthcare philosophy, the Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound procedures at a technically proficient level.
Positions and instructs the patient, operates ultrasound equipment and determines the technical factors for ultrasound procedures. Ensures correct marking/labeling of images, provide and confirm proper/adequate documentation of procedures to assist in diagnosis. Technically proficient in a variety of ultrasound procedures. Ability to train staff members to perform procedures requiring independent judgement. Position requires ingenuity and initiative for the diagnosis and therapy of disease.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- 3 years experience performing Ultrasound procedures in an acute facility if not RDMS.
- Entry level for RDMS 0-3 years experience
- Current RDMS or RDMS eligible (RG ARDMS)
- ECE to maintain certification
- Current CPR-AHA Certification (CT CPRBLS)
Special Skills:
- Demonstrates knowledge in both general and cross-sectional anatomy and physiology.
- Must have working knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures.
- Must also know departmental protocols and procedures.
- Ability to work tactfully and effectively with fellow staff members, physicians and the patient population.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Self-motivated and able to achieve results through good organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and be a functional team member in a team-oriented environment.
