Mortgage Processors must have a good understanding of mortgage loan operations, underwriting, policies, guidelines, and procedures.
The duties of a Mortgage Processor include, but are not limited to:
- Inputting proper loan information into the system for processing
- Ensuring that all loan documentation is complete, accurate, has been verified, and complies with company policy
- Verifying loan documents, including income credit appraisal and title insurance, for submission to underwriting
- Providing support to Mortgage Loan Originators by ordering and coordinating underwriting requirements and loan documents
- Maintaining knowledge of rules, policies and procedures governing all classes of loans
- Maintaining knowledge of all regulations, such as OFAC, Privacy Act, Reg Z, Reg X, ECOA, and any new regulations affecting mortgage loan applications
- Training new processing staff
This position requires the individual to provide detailed information on Home Equity and/or Mortgage Loans; therefore, National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) registration will be required. If the individual is not currently registered, they will need to pass the applicable background screening to be registered. This screening may be different than what was required for the individual to become employed by the Credit Union.
