Description
The Division of Mechanical Services (DMS) is responsible for providing mechanical maintenance and electronic security services to numerous state-owned facilities in the Frankfort area and state office complexes in Louisville, Jackson, Madisonville, London and Spindletop in Lexington. This division's function is to maintain a comfortable environment for the building occupants and citizens who utilize these state facilities. DMS objectives include delivery of products/services using the fewest resources possible, ensuring employee safety, utility cost reduction and enhancing employees' professional skills.
The Safety Coordinator will assist with the development of and the coordination of various safety programs for the Department of Facilities and Support Services.
Key Responsibilities
The Safety Coordinator will assist with the development of and the coordination of various safety programs for the Department of Facilities and Support Services.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct annual audits and reviews of all established Occupational Safety and Health.
- Reviews and coordinates the agency’s Hazard Commination Program to ensure compliance, and maintenance of the Master Chemical.
- Reviews and coordinates the agency’s Emergency Action.
- Reviews and coordinates requirements of the agency’s Personal Protective Equipment Program through assisting with the completion of Hazard and identifying appropriate PPE.
- Coordinates, schedules, assists in development of and conducts employee training for all established Occupational Safety and Health programs.
- Coordinates schedules and conducts inspections of work process, equipment and facilities for compliance with applicable Occupational Safety and Health standards.
- Customer service
- Should have knowledge of safety operations or inspection, incident management, or emergency services
- Good written & verbal communication
- A good level of computer proficiency (MS Office Suite)
- Should have a valid Drivers License
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Three years of experience in safety operations or inspection, incident management, or emergency services.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Additional administrative, safety operations and/or inspection, incident management, or emergency services experience will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): NONE
Working Conditions
Incumbent must be able to make oral presentations. Travel may be required.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
