The employee in this position conducts planned sessions of resident activities under the direction of Therapeutic Recreational Services staff that will lead residents of the Southeastern Veterans Center to their highest level of physical, cognitive, and social abilities. As part of this interdisciplinary team, the Therapeutic Actives Worker assists in planning, organizing, scheduling, and conducting recreational and educational activities and outings to enhance or retain the residents’ functionality in the areas of: socialization, interpersonal relationships, self-respect, self-esteem, and self help, as well as provide transportation/escort residents to and from programs and activities such as social parties, dances, dinners, etc.
Work Hours and Additional Information:
Full-time employment- Position available on 1st Shift (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
- Monday - Friday
- 8 hours/day; 40 hours/week
- Flex schedule/work 1 weekend/month

In order to be selected for this position, you must be able to show, at the time of hire, verification that you have received either a single-dose COVID-19 vaccination or the first dose of a two-dose series COVID-19 vaccination. If you have received the first dose of a two-dose vaccination, and you are selected for this position, you will have to show verification that you have received the second inoculation by no later than February 26, 2022, in order to continue employment in this position.
Selected candidates with a start date of February 26, 2022, or after must show, at the time of hire, verification that you have received either a single-dose COVID-19 vaccination, or both doses of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination. If you are unable to show the required verification, your employment will be terminated.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Experience and Training Requirements - A bachelor’s degree with major coursework in therapeutic recreation; physical education; vocational rehabilitation; vocational education or counseling; art, music, dance, or occupational therapies; or a related human services field; OR four years of experience providing therapeutic activities for individuals with physical, medical, or cognitive disabilities; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training.
