As an Accounting Assistant for the Department of Corrections, you will be responsible for keeping inmates' accounts up to date and accurate for your assigned Institution. You will also be responsible for all inmate releases and transfers, answering requests/inquiries concerning inmate accounts, and resolving discrepancies. Other duties include typing memos, providing account summaries, returning telephone inquiries, and posting entries into QuickBooks. In this position, you will post accounting data to ledgers, books, registers, and journals; make routine adjustments to accounts; prepare daily summary and monthly accumulative reports; take routine trial balances and prepare routine and/or proceduralized financial reports.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment (37.5 hours/week).
- Work hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 60 or 65.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $37,144.00 (before taxes).

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or
- An Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
