Energy Efficiency Specialist - Weatherization Technician
Community Action Opportunities is seeking a motivated, reliable, and trainable individual to work as a technician in our Weatherization Program. While construction experience is a plus, the organization will provide the training and certifications necessary to perform prescribed retrofit improvements on a variety of low-income housing.
Our Weatherization Assistance Program works to increase the energy efficiency of homes, make them more durable for the future, and address threats to the health and safety of their occupants. The program is provided completely free of charge to low-income residents of an eight-county service area in Western North Carolina.
The ideal candidate for this position wants to make a positive impact on their community, is interested in construction or building science, and is able to work autonomously in a variety of different settings. Carpentry or construction experience preferred but not required.
Job Description
- Perform and interpret building construction diagnostic tests such as the blower door and
duct blaster
- Complete construction work related to repairing damaged flooring and drywall.
- Install doors, windows, and insulation
- Seal and insulate duct work in attics and crawlspaces
- Complete air sealing in attics and crawlspaces
- Maintain daily activity record
Requires
High school diploma or GED
Valid North Carolina Driver License
Ability to safely use construction tools and equipment on a daily basis.
Capacity to perform heavy work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally
Pass pre-employment background, drug and alcohol screenings

Compensation $20.97 to $23.00/ hourly (DOQ) plus full benefits including employer covered healthcare, paid holidays, paid vacation days, sick leave, life insurance, and 401(k).
