What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head Start Center Assistant position at Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska?
Position: Center Assistant (temporary, ends 3/31/23)
Program and Location: Head Start, Holdrege
Position Summary: The Center Assistant provides support to staff. The Center Assistant is responsible to, and under the direct supervision of the Center Director.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in classroom as needed by implementing daily lesson plan, assisting in record keeping, documentation, providing classroom breaks.
- Assist cook with meal preparation, as needed, or perform cook duties in their absence.
- Assist staff with ensuring food, kitchen, and classroom inventories are stocked.
- Be actively engaged in all Head Start activities and model appropriate behavior.
- Assist in implementation of oral health practices.
Tasks and Duties:
- Deliver meals and snacks to classrooms and assist in the classrooms during mealtime.
- Ensure laundry is done daily.
- Perform duties to assist in classroom management.
Education Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED. Consideration will be given to individuals working towards GED.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
Required Skills:
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the general public as well as other agency employees
- Model appropriate/professional behavior
Schedule/Hours: 20 hours per week through 3/31/23, Monday through Friday.
Pay Rate: Starting pay is $10.91 per hour. The starting wage will also be boosted by a 5% increase using American Recovery Plan funds through March 2023. The wage with the 5% boost is $11.46.
