WHAT WILL I BE DOING?
CHI is looking for a full-time Resident Support Specialist (RSS) Supervisor for our Smithtown location. You will be responsible for the management of Residential Support Specialist staff within the Congregate Family Program. You will ensure that quality services are provided effectively and in accordance with guidelines established by CHI, OTDA, Suffolk County Department of Social Services, and other funding sources as appropriate. This is accomplished by performing the following functions:
- Provide crisis intervention as appropriate
- Provide consistent supervision and support for all Residential Support Specialist staff.
- Ensure that the program is providing quality services and is compliant with program requirements.
- Act as a liaison with agencies responsible for referring eligible clients.
- Prevent loss of income to CHI as a result of vacancy loss and lost shelter payments/property, etc.
- Adhere to proper usage of company resources (cell phones, office supplies, internet, etc.).
- Maintain appropriateness and act as a model.
- Provide on-site training and feedback on a regular basis and when necessary to staff and management.
- Complete and maintain appropriate documentation, guidance in appropriate documentation to staff.
- Assist the management team in communication as well as being an on-call supervisor.
WHAT DO I NEED?
- Education: BSW or MSW from an accredited university or related field of study preferred. Can be substituted for extensive related experience in the field.
- Experience: 2 years’ experience providing management services.
- Certificates or Licenses: Valid driver’s license
- Insurance: Valid automobile insurance
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in English required. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
- Computer Skills: Basic competency in MS Windows, MS Office, and on the Internet.
- Physical Performance: Ability to tour properties, walk distances, climb stairs, etc.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to prioritize, make appropriate decisions and judgment calls.
- Other Skills: Ability to work independently or as part of a team, be highly organized, assume responsibility, work well under pressure, meet deadlines, multitask, be flexible, and maintain a high level of attention to details. Must be even-tempered, have good negotiation skills, and the ability to meet unexpected deadlines. Effective time management skills.
