What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education Specialist position at Community Mediation Services Inc.?
· Meet with school administrators and teachers as needed to support school curriculum.
· Provide support for School Based line staff as it relates to lesson plan implementation and facilitation.
· Help develop and implement student-centered, interactive activities which are tied to common core standards.
· Provide support by observing and providing feedback to line staff as well as periodic training's regarding lesson planning.
· Ensure that all structured activities have clearly defined outcomes.
· Review and adapt curriculum to fit within School vision and larger program goals.
· Facilitate literacy/STEM, leadership and other activities if needed.
· Provide differentiated instruction to allow for the various learning styles among students.
· Set and maintain standards for classroom behavior/classroom management.
· Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establish clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects.
· Completion and timely submission of documentation, statistics and correspondence as it relates to the program.
· Provide support for the School Based programs as needed.
· Communicate regularly with Senior Director regarding program needs/feedback.
Comply with all record keeping and documentation requirements
· Maintain required lesson tracking sheet and submit revised lesson plans within specific time frames.
· Ensure compliance with all required documents and deadlines (lesson plans).
Participate as a member of the CMS administrative team
· Adhere to CMS policies and procedures.
· Model professionalism in the founding principles of CMS.
· Enhance community awareness of the program by participating in networking and community-based activities.
· Develop and maintain relationships with existing and potential referral sources.
· Share knowledge of existing resources and contribute new ideas.
· Participate in unit initiatives and agency wide committees.
· Partner with other CMS programs (i.e. workshops).
· Meet with the Senior Director of Youth Development as scheduled for formal supervision.
Qualifications and position requirements
· Minimum BA/BS required.
· 2 to 4 years of prior experience in the youth development field/specifically curriculum planning and/or training or teaching.
· Must be able to work effectively with the team.
· Commitment to the empowerment of students.
· Focus on providing fun engaging instructional activities for students.
· Participate in ongoing training's as required for SACC license and professional development needs.
