What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Services Aide position at Community Memorial Hospital?
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Selects cleaning materials and supplies and prepares solutions according to procedure. Loads service cart and transport to work area.
- Cleans assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment with a germicidal cleaning solution.
- Cleans assigned areas by washing walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, vents, televisions, and windows. Strips and applies floor finish and polishes floors.
- Operates various types of cleaning equipment both mechanical and electrical. (Buffers, wringers, scrubbers, vacuums, etc.) Cleans equipment and notifies Supervisor of equipment needing repair. Reports all safety hazards to Supervisor.
- Sweeps and mops floor areas, vacuums carpets, spot cleans carpets, using appropriate solutions, and arranges furniture and equipment in an orderly fashion after cleaning an assigned area.
- Returns all unused supplies to janitor closet, cleans carts and equipment at the end of shift and ensures all items are replaced in an orderly manner.
- Able to climb ladder to hang cubicle curtains, window drapes, or reach high areas for cleaning purposes.
- Collect waste from all areas of the hospital, sanitizes garbage cans. Collects Regulated Medical Waste as established by Hospital policy.
- Deliver clean linen to all areas of the Hospital. Work in clean linen room as assigned.
- Collect soiled linen from all areas of the Hospital and transport to soiled linen room.
- Performs routine cleaning of patient room, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, and stairways in a neat clean and sanitary manner. Cleans Isolation rooms both occupied and at patient transfer and/or discharge. Cleans Operating Suites and all rooms and corridors in the OR area.
- Responds to all spills such as Blood, Chemical, and other potentially dangerous liquids as required. Uses proper cleaning and control procedures.
Job Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Follows infection control practices including hand washing, standard precautions and isolation precautions.
- Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
- Flexibility to work overtime as needed
- Able to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets as they relate to chemicals and their uses after annual training on MSDS sheets.
Experience
