What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deep Dive Ambassador and Resource Navigator position at Community Passageways?

Community Passageways is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual for the role of Deep Dive Community Ambassador and Resource Navigator. This role is crucial in supporting and mentoring youth and young adults (YYA) aged 15-27 who have been impacted by the criminal legal system and are at risk of gun violence. The ideal candidate will guide these individuals towards personal and community betterment, focusing on resilience against gun violence and nurturing future leaders through comprehensive programming. This position will report to the Deep Dive Program Manager.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, evenings, or as needed; 24/7 availability for participant support 


Key Responsibilities: 
  1.  Support and Systems Navigation: 
  • Establish and maintain trust-based, accountable relationships with each participant. 
  • Guide participants through the criminal legal system and assist in accessing educational, housing, and employment opportunities. 
  • Work towards personal goals with participants, offering consistent compassion and availability. 

        2. Evening Classes, Curriculum, and Healing Circles:  

  • Facilitate bi-weekly classes and healing circles, along with weekly assignments. 
  • Cover curriculum focusing on personal strengths, conflict resolution, trauma healing, goal setting, historical influences, financial literacy, and critical thinking.  
  • Employ methodologies like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Healing Centered Engagement, and Motivational Interviewing. 

      3. Guest Speakers: 

  • Coordinate sessions with guest speakers on varied topics aligned with participants' interests. 

      4. Participant Support: 

  • Build and maintain trustful, supportive relationships for personal growth and mindset shifts. 
  • Collaborate with Resource Navigators for access to necessary services and resources. 
  • Use a trauma-informed approach for participants with substance abuse, mental health challenges, or significant trauma.  
  • Act as a legal advocate and maintain detailed participant case notes. 

      5. Incident Mitigation (Primarily in King County): 

  • Work with the Community Safety Team to prevent potential violence or retaliation. 
  • Lead mediation efforts and gather critical incident information. 
  • Identify and assist youth at risk of gang involvement. 

      6. Program Support and Community Engagement: 

  • Utilize community credibility to combat the cycle of violence. 
  • Participate in community events, conduct outreach, and develop relationships with local entities.  
  • Keep accurate records of participant interactions and service plans, adhering to confidentiality guidelines.  
  • Attend supervision meetings and mandatory training for professional development. 

      7. Additional Responsibilities: 

  • Engage in assigned meetings, maintain confidentiality, and fulfill other duties as required. 


Requirements

Qualifications: 
  • Experience working with at-risk youth, particularly those involved in the criminal legal system. 
  • Knowledge of the challenges faced by BIPOC communities in Seattle. 
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, asset-based approaches, and various therapeutic methodologies.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport. 
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity to diverse populations. 
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to transport participants as needed.  
  • Proficiency in using technology for virtual programming and record-keeping.
