What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Therapist position at Community Violence Intervention Center?

Youth Therapist

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s Degree in Social Work or Counseling and North Dakota license as a LMSW or LAPC. A clinical license (North Dakota) as a LCSW or LPCC is preferred. Experience working with children and victims of violence preferred. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, have access to personal transportation and be willing to travel to local and county schools.

 

COMPENSATION: Salary range for a LMSW or LAPC/LPC is $45,843-$73,341.  Clinical license (LCSW or LPCC) salary range is $51,896 - $83,054.  Benefits include a generous leave package; 11 paid holidays; health, dental, vision, and life insurance; 401k with employer match; and potential eligibility federal student loan repayment.

 

You will also receive employer-funded training in evidence-based therapies such as PCIT, TF-CBT and EMDR, participate in regular group consultation with the youth and adult therapy team, as well as clinical supervision from a certified supervisor.    This position has the option for a varied/flexible schedule to meet the needs of the employee.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Individual and Group Therapy

  • Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy to youth, ages 2-18, who have experienced domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault/abuse, stalking and/or bullying.
  • Follow-up with non-abusing parents whose children are on CVIC’s therapy waitlists to arrange for services.
  • Provide individual therapy to youth, in conjunction with their non-abusing parent, at CVIC’s main office and shelter.
  • Provide individual therapy to youth at their school in the City of Grand Forks and rural schools in Grand Forks County. Travel to and from schools in the City of Grand Forks and rural Grand Forks County schools is required.
  • Obtain training in providing distance counseling and provide individual therapy to victims via telehealth when needed.
  • Facilitate group therapy at CVIC or area schools in the City of Grand Forks and rural schools.

 

Individual Advocacy and Referrals

  • Provide information and parenting support to non-abusing caregivers whose youth have experienced violence.
  • Become knowledgeable of other related agencies and services and provide youth victims and their non-abusing caregivers with appropriate referral information and support in accessing safety net services.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies to assist with referrals to our services, helping youth and their families overcome barriers to receiving services.

 

Record Keeping

  • Maintain accurate, complete, and timely records of all contacts with youth clients, non-abusing caregivers, and other agencies according to established procedures.
  • Distribute and collect surveys from youth participating in individual and group therapy, and their caregivers, according to established procedures.

 

Collaboration

  • Participate on agency and community committees as assigned.
  • Collaborate with city and rural schools in setting up individual and group services for youth at the schools, providing education and support to non-abusing caregivers and staff as needed.
  • Provide support at prevention and education presentations to youth in Grand Forks County as needed.
