GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
• Provides prophylactic care and preventive care to include topical fluoride and application of occlusal sealants.
• Exposes and develops radiographs.
• Provides oral hygiene education to patients, on an individual basis and in groups when feasible and appropriate.
• Develops education programs with the dental director.
• Precepts dental hygiene students assigned to CommWell Health or in conjunction with dental outreach programs.
• Participates in continuing education on and off site as feasible and appropriate.
• Adhere to OSHA, Infection Control/Spice Regulations
• Perform Sterilization of Dental Instruments and Dental Equipment
• Perform Autoclave cleaning/maintenance, Lab duties, eye wash station, monitor/record AED/Crash Cart, O2 Tanks, Expiration dates, Sharps containers, Refrigerator/Freezer, Glucose testing, and referral monitoring
• Maintain Radiology Log according to North Carolina Department of Radiation Protection
• Maintain monthly duties, as assigned
• Under the direction of staff dentist, if certified, may administer local anesthetic.
• Other duties include:
o Assist chair-side in delivery of dental treatment when other staff are out or when heavy patient load exist to include cleaning and readying dental operatories.
o Take alginate impressions, pours and trim study models.
• Assures hazardous chemicals are labeled and proper Material and Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)are on file.
• Assist the patient in development of the patient’s Dental Self Management goals and care plans.
• Focuses on the assessment, monitoring and proactive management of the healthcare needs of the patient population.
• Participates in case reviews during PCHH huddles:
o Daily
• Other duties as assigned
