Summary:
As a Senior Project Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for leading and supervising a team of Project Controls professionals who are responsible for implementing LANL's project controls system, processes, procedures, and tools on a project or program. You will play a crucial role in supporting the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and Project Controls System, performing cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
This position requires a minimum of twelve years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities:
- Provide technical direction and supervision for cost engineering and/or planning/scheduling activities.
- Identify cost trends and provide innovative solutions for management attention.
- Supervise schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities.
- Conduct cost engineering analysis and control activities.
- Prepare and review cost engineering and planning activities.
- Support project organizational and administrative activities.
- Ensure work is completed as scheduled.
- Develop advanced concepts, techniques, and standards based on professional principles and theories.
- Use independent judgment to determine the course of action to accomplish objectives.
- Demonstrate an intermediate level of understanding of project controls general technical skills.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of twelve years of related experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions.
- Extensive experience in cost estimating, cost control, financial reporting systems, and cost analysis.
- Proficiency in using personal computer operating systems and basic software applications.
- Knowledge of multiple discipline-specific software applications.
- Familiarity with financial report systems, controller account codes, and controller instructions.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to supervise, train, and administer technical and non-technical personnel.
- Expert level knowledge of the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tools and processes.
- Familiarity with engineering and/or construction management practices.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) with project controls and/or project management.
- Proven expertise in project budgets, cost estimating, cost control, cost analysis, project scheduling, and implementing corrective actions.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver detailed and accurate status reports.
- Strong understanding of engineering functions and principles.
- Familiarity with technical projects and their monitoring requirements.
