Description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:        The licensed practical nurse LPN works in one of the service providing programs of Compass Behavioral Health and is responsible administratively to the Regional Director.  The primary function of the LPN is to provide client care.  These services are provided in both agency and community settings, such as the client’s residence.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:         L.P.N. Degree from an accredited school of nursing and licensed to practice as a LPN in the State of Kansas.  Experience in psychiatric nursing is required and must display familiarity with behavioral health care service delivery systems and current practice standards.  Must possess knowledge of psychotropic medication and usage of such.

Staff member shall possess demonstrated interpersonal skills, ability to work with the mentally ill, ability to respond effectively in a wide variety of human service situations. Experience working with persons diagnosed with a Severe and Persistent Mental illness is preferred.  Must have a current valid driver’s license.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.

The employee frequently lifts and/or moves up to twenty pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed to a typical office environment and interaction with many different persons.  In addition, the employee travels by automobile and is exposed to changing weather conditions. Must have a valid Kansas Driver’s License and be insurable under the Agency’s policy in order to operate a Center vehicle. The employee will interact with many different persons in varying stages of recovery from their mental illness.
