What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Business Insights position at Compass Group USA?
The Director of Business Insights will spearhead the delivery of analytics and insights to our operators and clients for Compass Group-related business. In this role, the Manager is responsible for collaborating with relevant Operations stakeholders to establish the strategy for deploying and focusing analytics insights. This position will be responsible for overseeing projects from start to finish, representing Compass stakeholders and their clients, and developing and advancing analytics methods.
Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end projects from Compass locations or specific sector as directed by Business Insights leadership
- Effectively own the execution of projects as assigned by senior leadership
- Ability to manage up to E15 leadership and relevant Compass stakeholders, as well as down through direct reports
- Implement and analyze key parts of the venue or sector business
- Support the data structure and strategy needed to import available transaction data for our venues
- Develop and deploy optimal pricing, product, placement, and promotion strategies for concessions and premium points of distribution
- Develop reporting (heat maps, dashboards, slide decks, status updates) standards and formats for client and operator end use
- Ability to use syndicated databases to query, download, and analyze data on consumers, food and beverage trends, social media usage, and competitive locations; knowledge of tools to delegate tasks to direct reports or project team members
- Create impactful visuals that communicate complex qualitative and quantitative data to end users
- Analyze and build optimal solutions around variable labor
- Leverage available artificial intelligence, consumer insights, and emerging technology tools to drive guest experience and profitability
- Help support various organizational programs and initiatives such as, but not limited to, supporting sales and retention efforts, performing ad hoc analyses, optimizing group sales strategy, and more
Coordinating the growth trajectory of the Business Insights sector
- Share best practices across the vertical for our operators and clients
- Communicate the E15 value proposition to our clients and operators; develop findings to send back to corporate
- Support new business efforts through the creation of case studies and ROI modeling
Development
- Emanate personal and professional standards of behavior, analysis, and deliverables
- Provide leadership, support and professional development to team members in both formal and informal settings
- Liaise with key Compass departments to drive processes and tools that advance strategic and enterprise-wide initiatives
- Help lead various organizational programs and initiatives such as internship development, recruiting support, culture committee, etc.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in quantitative, analytical and/or client-facing businesses
- Undergraduate degree in business strategy, business analytics, finance, economics, or a related field
- Communicating complex ideas to non-technical audiences
- Using data to solve complex problems
- Using SQL, R, Python, and/or Tableau for data analysis
- Ability to work collaboratively in a consultative role
- Persuasive and professional communication skills (presentations, documents, emails)
PREFERRED
- Hospitality, and/or Retail knowledge/experience a plus
- Prior work at a consulting or investment banking firm
- Master’s degree in relevant field
Salary : $135,000 - $150,000
