Environmental Health and Safety Specialist
Onsite full time for a month
Los Angeles, California
Seeking Environmental Safety and Health (S&H) specialist to support a FEMA disaster relief operation as a result of California wildfires. We are seeking individuals for 30-day mobilization to assist Safety Officers at projected and duty stations throughout Los Angeles. Will be a 30-day onsite full time contract with an option for extension. Will be checking FEMA deployment sites to make sure the area is safe for staff. Below is the scope of activities that may be performed by the safety specialists :
1. Utilize trained Safety and Health Specialists / Managers or Industrial Hygienists to inspect facilities and write reports based on findings.
2. Work under the direction of the client Disaster Safety Officer at field locations including Joint Field Offices, Area Field Offices, Disaster Recovery Centers, and other locations to support relief.
3. Ensure the safety and health of Client personnel, Visitors and contractors at client managed facilities, and Personnel who respond to the field offices under the Stafford Act.
The candidate should have at least 3 years of S&H technical experience with general occupational safety topic such as ergonomics, life safety, electrical safety and other concerns covered under OSHA1910, 1926 and 1960.
Requirements :
- AS / BS degree from accredited university in engineering, environmental science, occupation safety or related field.
- 3 years of experience in performing industrial hygiene and / or environmental health and safety consulting.
- Knowledge on inspecting and resolving office ergonomics, electrical, chemical (Hazcom), life safety, related issues.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Experience developing reports with recommendations based on OSHA regulations.
- Experience developing job hazard analysis for high / medium hazard work tasks.
- Experience developing Occupant Emergency Plans (OEPs).
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Military background would be a plus.
- Ability to pass a background check (civil, criminal, bankrupt, credit, etc.)
- Must be a US Citizen
- Able to deploy quickly and commit to at least a month onsite.
- Willing to work 10-hour shifts and 7 days per week during deployment
