The Composite Panel Association (CPA), based in Leesburg, VA, represents the North American composite panel and decorative surfaces industries on technical, regulatory, quality assurance and product acceptance issues. CPA General Members include the leading manufacturers of particleboard, medium density fiberboard (MDF), hardboard, and engineered wood siding and trim. Together they represent more than 92% of the total manufacturing capacity in US, Canada and Mexico.
CPA also brings together the complete value chain affiliated with the composite panel industry. Associate Members include manufacturers of decorative surfaces, furniture, cabinets, and doors and mouldings, as well as laminators, distributors and equipment suppliers.
Summary
Seeking a creative, detail-oriented, and results-driven Marketing and Meetings specialist to support the association’s external marketing and event planning activities with the goal of raising the visibility of the organization, its members, and industry products to key audiences, including home builders, interior designers, architects and other key decision-makers in the building products industry. This is an entry level position reporting to the VP of Marketing and Meetings.
Responsibilities
Marketing and Social Media (55%)
- Support the creation and execution of engaging digital and social media content and campaigns
- Assist in the research, design, writing, and execution of highly visual digital content to drive audience engagement and website conversions
- Design fresh, creative, and engaging multimedia content including social media posts for organic and ad campaigns
- Support development of website content (written and visual)
- Assist in researching and developing new and creative avenues to market industry products and association initiatives
Event Planning (35%)
Assist with the execution of two annual membership meetings per year, including:
- Support site selection process by researching hotels and cities
- Manage online and in-person registration and housing block
- Recruit and manage exhibitors
- Manage logistics, including menu selections and audio-visual vendor selection
- Travel up to two annual meetings and other industry trade shows
Membership Data Management (10%)
- Manage day-to-day membership database to ensure accuracy and completeness, respond to member requests, and general customer service inquiries
- Collect information for online membership directory and annual buyers guide publication.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, event planning or related field.
- One to three (1-3) years relevant post-college professional work experience supporting a marketing, communications, or meeting planning department. Non-profit or association experienced preferred.
- Experience collaborating to design and deliver creative digital content that is concise and engaging.
- Knowledge of the latest digital content and social media trends. Experience creating TikTok content a plus.
- Demonstrated ability as a proactive, self-starter with excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Resourceful with strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Expertise in Office 365 Suite, Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and WordPress (or similar platforms) required. Experience with InDesign and Hootsuite preferred.
- Event planning experience preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively and interact successfully with all levels of staff and association members with excellent customer service skills.
