Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Utility Line Locator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately locating and marking underground utility lines to ensure safe excavation and construction practices. This role requires a strong understanding of utility locating techniques, as well as the ability to work collaboratively on construction sites while adhering to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate utility locating equipment (electromagnetic locators, ground-penetrating radar, cable and pipe locators) to identify and map underground utilities.
- Interpret and analyze utility maps, blueprints, and construction plans to identify utility systems.
- Accurately mark the location of utilities at job sites, ensuring precise and reliable data.
- Maintain detailed records and reports of utility locations and inspection findings.
- Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure safe excavation practices.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and best practices for working in various outdoor environments.
- Ensure compliance with all local regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to clients and other team members.
Qualifications
- Experience: 1-3 years of experience in utility locating, construction, or a related field is preferred. Experience with electromagnetic locators, GPR, and other utility locating equipment is highly desired.
- Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret construction blueprints and utility maps.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, walk long distances, and handle equipment.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with underground utility systems (gas, water, electric, sewer) and utility locating technologies.
- Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required for this position.
