Job Title: PowerBI Developer
Location: Hybrid - 3 Days On-Site / 2 Days Remote | New Orleans, LA 70113 OR Woodlands, TX 77380
Work Schedule/Shift: Mon-Fri | Minimum 40 work hours per week.
Duration/Length of Assignment: 6 Month Contract to Hire

Position Overview:
A large-scale initiative is underway to enhance business intelligence and reporting capabilities by expanding and optimizing Power BI reporting infrastructure. This initiative aims to create a suite of new reports while refining existing ones to improve data-driven decision-making. The role will be part of a collaborative team focused on data visualization, reporting solutions, and analytical insights that support key business operations. The team consists of multiple developers working alongside business analysts and stakeholders to ensure effective report development, data integrity, and seamless integration of Power BI solutions within the organization. The Senior Power BI Developer will be responsible for leading the design, development, and modification of Power BI dashboards and reports. This includes leveraging DAX to enhance data visualization, integrating solutions with PowerApps, and working within JIRA to manage development workflows. The role requires direct engagement with stakeholders to capture reporting requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and ensure successful implementation. This position also involves mentoring junior developers, providing guidance on best practices, and overseeing the development process to maintain high-quality deliverables.

Required Skills/Experience/Qualifications:
- Extensive experience with Power BI report development, including dashboard creation, data modeling, and performance optimization
- Proficiency in DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) for complex calculations and report customization
- Hands-on experience developing within the PowerApps Platform for integration with Power BI
- Strong background in Cognos and Power BI development, with the ability to migrate and optimize reports between platforms
- Experience working within JIRA for development tracking and agile workflow management
- Proven ability to engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, define reporting needs, and implement solutions that align with business objectives
- Leadership experience with the ability to guide a team of developers, oversee development efforts, and ensure consistency in report quality
Preferred Skills (Not Required):
- Previous experience working within the energy or utilities sector
- Understanding of data governance and best practices for enterprise reporting
Day to Day/Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and enhance Power BI reports and dashboards to support business intelligence initiatives
- Write and optimize DAX expressions for advanced data modeling and visualization within Power BI
- Work within JIRA to track report development, manage sprints, and collaborate with business users on report requests
- Gather and analyze stakeholder requirements to design reports that meet business needs and align with best practices
- Modify and improve existing Power BI reports to enhance functionality, improve efficiency, and ensure data accuracy
- Integrate reporting solutions with PowerApps, leveraging automation and interactive functionalities
- Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to ensure proper data sourcing, transformation, and performance optimization
- Lead a team of developers, provide mentorship, enforce best practices, and ensure the consistency of reporting deliverables
- Conduct stakeholder reviews and presentations to validate report accuracy and usability before deployment
- Troubleshoot and resolve data discrepancies, performance issues, and visualization challenges in reports
- Maintain documentation on report structures, development processes, and best practices for internal reference and knowledge sharing
