Status: Full-time, non-exempt/hourly
Department: Production
Reports directly to: Lead Grower
Schedule: Monday - Friday 7am - 3:30pm
Function: Performs a variety of horticultural and general duties to support the Grower team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Performs various horticultural duties such as in-ground planting, propagating, transplanting, irrigating, fertilizing, weeding, pruning and labeling
- Irrigates plants in all zones daily, at the direction of the Lead Grower
- Scouts growing zones at the direction of the Lead Grower
- Applies chemical treatments to plants in all zones at the direction of the Lead Grower
- Applies Beneficial insects, Mites and Nematodes at the direction of the Lead Grower
- Assists Lead Grower with specialty grow out projects including-Trade shows, events, stock shifts, stock field planting.
- Propagation: Learns propagation requirements for a wide range of genera (i.e. – harvest times, cutting type and preparation, cultural conditions). Demonstrates accuracy and proficiency in propagation and inventory control
- Participates in weekend irrigation rotation
- Assists in data collection and data entry of Production data and maintains the integrity of the Production PI database.
- Greenhouse Sanitation: Consistently follows greenhouse sanitation protocols, understands a basic knowledge of common greenhouse insects and diseases and alerts breeders, trial coordinators and growers if a problem is noticed. Organizes and maintains the head house and greenhouse with minimal instruction.
- Operates farm, and greenhouse equipment as needed. Including tractors and forklifts.
- Performs additional duties as required.

- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in technician role or similar capacity.
- Ability to perform work with high degree of accuracy, organization and attentiveness.
- The ability to work well independently and in groups.
- Knowledge or understanding of plant production techniques, experience in handling plants is an advantage.
- Basic computer skills in Word and Excel
Environment
This position will work in our Greenhouse and also spend time out in the fields. While working in the greenhouse or outside, you may be exposed to various temperatures and weather conditions, such as, humidity, rain, wind, sun, and snow. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds and on an intermittent basis to lift up to 25 pounds.
Travel Requirements:
0-10% -Local travel to various training programs.

Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets the requirements of our insurance company.
