What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Manager position at Concord General Store?
Summary: Reporting to the General Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring and providing efficient, courteous and accurate service to our customers. He/she will act as back-up to the General Manager in the event of their absence or at their request, continuing effective management of store operations and employees
Essential duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
Customer Service: Greet and thank every customer when possible, log and follow up on all needs, wants and concerns that will help in daily operations as directed, log and follow up within 24 hours any customer questions, concerns, requests, and suggestions as directed, wait on customers as business warrants, including relieving staff to work on other duties if needed or take breaks.
Employee Management: Help with scheduling to staff shifts where there are shortages, help with training of new employees, help with remedial training of current employees where needed, help with performance reviews, remedial training, disciplinary actions and terminations where needed, help with keeping employees informed of any changes and promotions that may occur, ensure duties lists are completed for each shift worked, ensure cleanliness of entire premises both inside and outside, ensure that product is stocked, faced and fronted and rotated in all areas, ensure all company policies are followed.
Vendor Management: Place orders with vendors specifically given responsibility for, avoiding inventory shortage or excess, add products to computer when directed, determining correct retail price, tag items where needed, accurately check in vendors when necessary and ensure stock is completely put away the same day.
Merchandising: Set up displays as directed, ensure all merchandise is priced correctly and labeled neatly, ensure neatness and proper organization of front counters, ensure neatness and proper organization of all shelving, control cooler back stock by confirming cases are open and stacked correctly, take primary responsibility for monitoring all dated products, pulling outdated merchandise for credit or put on waste list, assist in developing promotions for continual sales growth.
Bookkeeping: Follow and enforce all company policies, know and be able to accomplish all opening and closing procedures, change fuel pricing as required on pumps and ensure outside price sign is changed, help monitor fuel tanks and line testing from tank monitor, maintain all equipment to company standards, attend weekly management meetings, attend monthly meetings with owners and management team, attend tradeshows and seminars as requested that will help in daily operations and procedures to increase sales and help improve store operations, perform other duties as assigned
Miscellaneous Tasks: Follow and enforce all company policies, know and be able to accomplish all opening and closing procedures, change fuel pricing as required on pumps and ensure outside price sign is changed, help monitor fuel tanks and line testing from tank monitor, maintain all equipment to company standards.
Training Responsibilities: Help train new employees in all details of their respective positions as requested.
