Clinical Recovery Coordinator
Job Summary
Accountable for all activities related to the surgical recovery and safe preservation of organs from donors. This includes, but is not limited to, operating room logistics and communication, maintaining surgical and preservation supplies, organ preservation, obtaining biopsy samples, and organ allocation.

Full time, Exempt
16 On-call, 24-hour shifts per month
Education Requirements:
• High school diploma required
• Associates degree or higher in a related field preferred.
Experience:
• Must have one of the following: One year of clinical hospital experience, certified surgical technologist, emergency medical technician, military medical training, experience or a degree in Funeral Sciences, or one year experience in ConnectLife in a related field.
Essential Job Functions:
1) Responsible for effective communication and coordination with medical professionals, hospitals and donation organizations.
2) Serves as a clinical resource for Hospital Development by providing educational in-services on the organ donation process when needed. Completes Medical Record Review for any assigned hospitals.
3) Has professional responsibilities including, but not limited to, meetings, quality assurance, training, and process improvement.
4) Management of the recovery process on each case to include the following:
a) Providing education regarding the recovery process to nursing, physician and recovery staff.
b) Monitor donor hemodynamics, oxygenation, and urine output. Make recommendations to appropriate staff to maintain or correct these values as needed.
c) Ensure the maximization of all organs intended for transplant by determining an appropriate cross-clamp time. Ensure all involved in the recovery process adhere to the determined cross-clamp time.
5) Recovery of all research organs with assistance, if needed, from surgical recovery teams.
6) Transports and delivers organs, kidney pumps, and tissue typing materials to their appropriate destination.
7) Responsible for accurate performance of the following:
a) Appropriately manipulate kidneys
b) Dissect patches
c) Split kidneys
d) Clean adipose from kidneys
e) Collect biopsy specimen.
8) Prepare imported kidneys, close biopsy sites, and prepare a complicated patch for pumping.
9) Is responsible for lab readiness at ConnectLife site and is responsible for maintaining adequate levels of recovery supplies, sterile packaging of supplies, and maintenance of all recovery and perfusion equipment.
10) Takes primary responsibility for placement of kidneys, pancreas and research organs when if needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills required, including communicating with diverse individuals.
• Must be adaptable and flexible to change with the ability to think critically in solving problems with a continuous focus on customer service.
• Medical terminology required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and data entry required.
• Must be detail oriented, and have the ability to remain accurate while under pressure.
• Must be able to remain professional in making decisions and handling confidential information.
• Must have patience and maintain focus through interruptions, and maintain emotional control under stress.
• Must have a valid NYS Drivers license and reliable transportation.
• Some travel required.
