Vice President of Engineering – Optical Systems | $200K–$250K Bonus Equity

Location: Cranston, RI
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent | Onsite
Salary: $200,000 – $250,000 per year $35K annual bonus stock options
Schedule: Monday – Friday, Day Shift
Travel: Up to 10% (fully reimbursed)

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Vice President of Engineering with a PhD and strong expertise in optical systems to lead a multi-year, high-impact engineering program. This role is a succession plan for a retiring executive and offers a clear path to take ownership of a major product initiative serving federal clients.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage all phases of the engineering lifecycle—from concept through deployment
• Supervise and scale an 8-person manufacturing team (growing to 16 )
• Partner with C-level leadership on technical strategy, budgeting, and execution
• Oversee design and development of next-generation optical sensor systems
• Ensure all engineering efforts align with long-term company goals

Requirements:

• PhD in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics (required)
• Minimum 8 years of engineering leadership experience
• Hands-on experience with optical systems and applied physics
• Published research or patents preferred
• Must be a U.S. Citizen (required for federal security clearance eligibility)
• Strong communication, leadership, and strategic planning skills
