POSITION TITLE:
Bilingual Instructional Aide
JOB DESCRIPTION:
To facilitate and assist in providing a quality program of instruction designed to meet the affective, linguistic and cognitive needs of limited English proficient students.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist bilingual teacher in providing quality dual-language instruction for limited English proficient students.
- Support and carry out activities related to the bilingual program.
- Perform duties involving the supervision of students.
- Communicate with students, teachers, staff, and parents.
- Present a positive role model for students.
- Demonstrate interest and initiative in professional improvement.
- Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Regular attendance.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE:
- Previous work with children in job-related capacity or volunteer work
- Experience related to working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent. Experience may be work in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day-care centers, or similar agencies or institutions
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate (must obtain within 30 days of employment)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Fluent in Spanish
- Ability to work well with others
- Positive human relations skills
- Appreciation of and patience with children
- Excellent communication skills in Spanish and in English
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Positive work performance regarding promptness, attendance, and productivity
- Willingness to take initiative
