What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Welder position at Consolidated Asset Management Services Texas, LLC?
This position is responsible for activities related to the operation of a coal-fired plant and works on a rotating shift basis. Must have knowledge of weld standards and practices. The position is responsible for the safe operation and execution of cutting, brazing, welding, and laying out work using oxyacetylene, SMAW and GTAW processes. Repairs are performed on various equipment, machinery parts, high pressure steam lines, heavy wall, piping, structural steel, and sheet metal.
The candidate must also be able to pass a pulmonary function/respirator fit test and work in high elevations. The candidate must reside within a reasonable distance from the facility in order to be available for callouts and emergencies. Must pass ASME Boiler Code Welding Test.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Cuts, lays out, brazes, and welds, including such work as:
- Making electrical or acetylene welding repairs on all types of equipment, machinery parts, high pressure gas or steam lines and parts, central station piping, structural steel and sheet metal.
- Fabricating special parts from sheet metal such as: fan covers, coal conveyors, elevator buckets, drag scrapers and water screens.
- Must be able to read blueprints and technical drawings.
- Must be able to work from schematics and drawings.
- Directs the work of others assisting him/her.
- Upon occasion or in an emergency, performs other related or less skilled work as required or directed, including the operation of transportation equipment.
