What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controls Engineer position at Consolidated Metco?

ConMet’s Controls Engineer provides automation support such as electrical schematics design and troubleshooting, PLC controls, and computer programming of industrial robotics for automated equipment at the plant, as well as supporting key company goals of reducing downtime, scrap and improving productivity.  

This role is based at ConMet’s Monroe, North Carolina location. 

Key Duties:

  • Programming knowledge on PLCs, Robots integration and vision systems
  • Creates programming changes on automated & manual equipment to improve up-time, improve recovery, reduce scrap, increase throughput
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems. (PLC, Allen Bradley, CNC machines and Fanuc Robots)
  • Work with production supervisors, engineers and technicians responsible for supporting the hub assembly, rotor assembly, machine shop and foundry areas.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Electrical, Computer or Electronics field required
  • Three (3) or more years of experience as Controls Engineer in a highly automated manufacturing environment required
  • PLC software and hardware
  • Industrial Robotics – Fanuc and Motoman
  • Vision Systems, Light Curtain

Compensation & Benefits

  • Excellent base salary.
  • Targeted annual bonus is based on company performance to objectives during the fiscal plan year which runs from October 1 – September 30.
