This is a full-time, FLSA Exempt position with Carson City Health & Human Services, located in Carson City, NV. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Provides care consistent with evidence-based health care and medicine. Works independently and interdependently with other medical providers.Interviews patients to obtain medical history. Documents accurately in the patient’s medical record, both normal and abnormal findings. Performs general physical assessments. Performs pelvic and breast examinations. Initiates and performs selected diagnostic and screening tests based on medical history and physical assessment. Assesses patient needs for specialty and diagnostic referrals and makes appropriate referrals. Interprets screening, laboratory, and diagnostic test results; provide education to patients as needed based on results; make and provide appropriate referrals. Obtains patient sample for lab tests and performs in-house waived laboratory testing. Counsels patients regarding their choice of contraceptives; prescribes and dispenses birth control pills and emergency contraceptives; inserts, examines and removes IUD and Long-Acting Reversible Contraceptive (LARC) devices. Diagnosis and treats sexually transmitted infections. Provides health related counseling on the prevention of communicable diseases, including sexually transmitted infections. Follows up with patients experiencing infections, as needed; encourages return for follow up testing or treatment, when recommended. Dispenses medications, in accordance with the State of Nevada’s Board of Pharmacy policies. Performs minor outpatient procedures, in accordance with the scope of practice for this position. Refers patients to proper community agency, when necessary. Communicates with patients regarding complaints. Collaborates with Family Planning Medical Director and/or County Health Officer to review documentation, update protocols, and case conference regarding specific patients, as deemed appropriate. Prepares a variety of technical, statistical and narrative written reports, correspondence, procedures, and other written materials. Acts as a preceptor for nursing students, and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse students. Assists with medical emergencies within the clinic, administers first aid as needed. Participates in audits, as deemed appropriate. Participates in the implementation and development of quality improvement projects. Organizes own work based on the clinic schedule, sets priorities and meets critical deadlines. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the division’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. Assists Clinical Services Division Manager with other administrative duties, as needed. Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with the public and City staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
1. Unclassified employees are “At Will” and as such, may be terminated at any time for any reason, or no reason. Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.2. Any City employee may be required to stay at or return to work during emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency. 3.Employees may be required to complete Incident Command System training as a condition of continuing employment. 4.New employees are required to submit to a fingerprint based background investigation which cost the new employee $48.25 and a drug screen which costs $36.50. Employment is contingent upon passing the background and the drug screen.5.
