What are the responsibilities and job description for the EHS Manager position at Constellium?
Job Summary: The incumbent is responsible to ensure that all applicable programs of EHS First are developed, implemented, and maintained. The person is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the following management systems implemented at the plant: ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and acts as the management representative. Supports efforts and provides guidance/direction for quality manufacturing, supplier management and customer issues and concerns at all stages of a program and for the Van Buren Constellium location.
Responsibilities
- Act as Management Representative and lead activities to achieve and maintain required system certifications (ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
- Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of Constellium’s EHS First initiatives
- Provide process control for EHS systems to support the Van Buren plant during the various program phases, engineering change request, launches, and daily CI activities
- Lead efforts to strive for a zero-accident safety culture
- Assist Human Resources with Worker’s Compensation Management
- Lead the team to achieve and maintain insurance loss prevention HPR status
- Manage accident/incident reporting processes and lead EHS 8D investigation teams
- Supervise various contracted EHS vending programs and personnel to include but not limited to: PPE vending, SWPPP inspections, SPCC materials, First Aid supplies, Security team, and other contractors as needed
- Manage the EHS portion of new hire onboarding
- Must work to maintain legal compliance with federal, state, and local EHS regulatory agencies
- Ensure accurate completion of annual reports to regulators: SARA Tier I, II. GLWA Permits, OSHA 300(A), and others as they arise
- Provide training in key areas/functions mentioned above
- Provide strategic and C.I. direction to all areas of responsibility mentioned above
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in EHS, Safety Engineering/ Technology, Occupational Safety and Health or related field and 5 years of experience, or High School Diploma/GED with equivalent years of experience, required
- At least 3-5 years of experience in the automotive industry with an OEM, Tier one, Tier two, or equivalent company, preferred
- Experience in the use and implementation of all tools and techniques used in the automotive industry including the IATF 16949:2016 management system, preferred
- Must be knowledgeable in EHS requirements or willing to learn quickly to proficient levels, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, required
- Lead auditor credentials in recognized systems, preferred
- Experience in supervision of technical individuals
- Good verbal and written communication skills with top management organizations, peers, staff and shop floor personnel
- Experience in dealing with customers and suppliers advantageous
- Knowledge of a variety of manufacturing processes relevant to metal fabrication and assembly and knowledge of a variety of common manufacturing processes, preferred
- Basic metallurgical understanding, preferred
- Successful candidate must be a strong problem solver with the ability to lead various teams simultaneously on complex issues and projects, preferred
- Working knowledge of robotics, automation, safety PLC, and integration, preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, required
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, required
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, required
- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
